The British Council has been working in Nepal for over forty years. Our centre offers access to a wide range of British education information and development services. The Council’s purpose is to win recognition abroad for the UK’s values, ideas and achievements, and nurture lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with other countries.

• English Teaching: we run courses in General English, Conversation Skills and preparatory courses for the IELTS as well as specialists courses in English for professionals.
   
• Examinations: The British Council administers 5225 British Examinations each year. These include the General Certificate of Education, IELTS and a number of professional examinations.
   
• Knowledge and Learning Centre: provides a membership book loan and reference facilities. We have 4,000 members, hold around 10000 books, 300 educational and management videos, 35 journals, 50 CD-ROMs and 200 audiocassettes and also provides Internet access.
   
• Information Centre: provides information about the full range of British Education courses, institutional prospectuses and DCROM database on courses in the UK.
