It gives me great pleasure to join the Nepal Britain Chamber of Commerce and Industry in welcoming you to the British Pavilion at the Himalayan Expo 2001. The Expo continues to be a central focus for trade and commerce in Nepal, and I am delighted that Trade Partners UK, the British government's trade development and promotion arm, has again agreed to fund the British Pavilion. I am sure you will appreciate that this is, once again, an expression of the British government's commitment to developing and strengthening bilateral trade and investment between Britain and Nepal, and ample recognition of the bilateral Chamber's successful management of the Pavilion over the years. The partnership between the Embassy and the Chamber remains central to our efforts to identify and exploit opportunities for British and Nepalese businesses in our respective markets, and I hope that this year's Expo will lead to a new lease of life for our members and exhibitors. It is indeed a great pleasure to welcome all distinguished participants, delegates and the visitors to the British Pavilion at the Himalayan Expo – 2001. As in past years, and encouraged with the success of previous presentations, an enthusiastic team from Nepal Britain Chamber of Commerce & Industry (NBCCI ) is organising the British Pavilion with support from the British Embassy and sponsorship from the Trade Partner’s UK for the fifth time in succession.
I believe, this year too, the pavilion will be a major attraction to all visitors due to its excellent exhibition, which will in general encompass a wide range of products and services manufactured by British Companies or their agents / joint venture Nepalese counterparts. On behalf of NBCCI, I sincerely acknowledge all the support and cooperation received from concerned authorities in making this event a grand success and look forward to receive it in future too.
Himalayan Expo, since its first inauguration ten years back has emerged as an appropriate rostrum to promote business activities and information dissemination on products and services to the existing and prospective customers.
