Shree Distillery, a prominent name in the Nepalese liquor industry has its origin in 1980. At the beginning, the liquor production was in small scale having only 4 brands of country liquor.
With the growth in business as well as competition, Shree Distillery started to produce Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA) also in addition to Rectified Spirit (RS). New brands in all segments of country liquor and foreign liquors like Vodka, Brandy etc. have been introduced over the period.
At present Shree has more than 14 brands in country liquor and foreign liquors such as Whisky and Rum. King’s Pride and Mount Everest Whisky are premium brands in the foreign liquor segment. Mount Everest Whisky is also being exported to Germany. CARAVAN, a premier brand in country liquor, has also succeeded in achieving remarkable market share. Shree Distillery leads the market in liquor, the segment having highest industry volume throughout the country, with an approximate eighty percent share of the total industry volume.
The company on the way to enhance its production, entered into an agreement with Morrison Bowmore Distillers Ltd., the owner of T & A McClelland Ltd., Glasgow, Scotland (UK). The company has succeeded in enhancing the quality with technical guidance from the Morrison Bowmore Distillers. The blended whiskies in premium brands are blended and bottled by the company, the Malt Spirit for which is received from the technical guidance from Morrison Bowmore Distillers. Quality is the Motto of the company so its management become the first in the country to be certified by the ISO 9002 in liquor business. It is notable that no company in liquor business has been certified with ISO 9002 before Shree Distillery, not only in Nepal probably throughout the South Asian Region.
