Economic Growth and Sustainability Need Not be a Binary Choice

The conventional wisdom often paints economic growth and sustainability as opposing forces, locked in a perpetual struggle. This "binary economics" framework, however, presents a false dichotomy. It is entirely possible to foster economic progress while safeguarding our planet and ensuring a just and equitable society.

Safety and Security

Nepal is safe to visit. The country is relatively stable and crime levels are low. However, visitors should take precautions when traveling to Nepal, particularly in rural areas where infrastructure is basic and medical facilities are limited. Avoid demonstrations and crowds. Political demonstrations intended to be peaceful can sometimes escalate into violence and may be met with force by Nepali authorities.

Local authorities are generally the best first responder in emergency situations. In the event of an emergency, dial 100 to contact the police in Nepal. This number is staffed 24/7 by the local police. Their toll-free number is 16600141916.

Health and Medical Care

Hospitals require a financial guarantee (credit card or advance payment) before treatments. If you are dependent on certain medicines, your first-aid kit should contain sufficient supply for your intended stay in the country.
